Lonstar offer two types of stencils:
Laser stencils and Chemically etched stencils.
PCB stencil thickness:
1
Generally, stencil manufacturers usually keep inventory according to the steel sheets they often use. Common thickness is: 0.1mm, 0.12mm, 0.13mm, 0.15mm, 0.18mm, etc.
The manufacturer who often produces precision stencil will also prepare some more precise material such as: 0.02mm, 0.03mm, 0.04mm, 0.05mm, 0.06mm, 0.08mm, etc. These precision material are mainly used to produce precision stencil.

How to choose stencil?
The selection of smt stencil thickness mainly depends on the size of the minimum spacing of components on the PCB. If the thickness of the component spacing is small, and the thickness is thinner. Thicker thicknesses can be used when the components on the entire PCB are relatively large.

The thickness of BGA or IC with a general center distance of 0.35mm is better to use 0.08mm or thinner stencil. If components with so small spacing on the entire board, pls consider to use stencil with 0.06mm or 0.5mm.
For BGAs or ICs with a center distance equal to or greater than 0.4mm, 0.1mm thickness can be used (the thickness of 0.08mm is also recommended for individual BGA). In all, the larger the components, the thicker stencil can be used.
BGA or IC with center distance equal to or greater than 0.5mm can use 0.12mm thickness.

Refer to the production process of SMT stencil, it can be divided into: laser stencil, electro-polished stencil, electrotyping forming stencil, stepped stencil, bonding stencil, nickel-plated stencil, and etched stencil. The production process of stencil includes: chemical etching, laser cutting, and electrotyping forming.
Lonstar will choose the stencil for you according to the PCBA data.
